Changes ....lots of changes

I have decided to devote a little more time to the blog than I have in the past few months....Evelyn is finally getting to a point where she will chill in the swing or exersaucer for a while so I can get things done - so one thing I will be "getting done" more often is the blog.

My plans thus far (after the new year) is to have themes for each day of the week...

Right now I have a few things in mind -

Miles Monday - Since I plan on starting up the 'ole treadmill I plan to devote Mondays to log how many (or few) miles I walk each week

(semi) Wordless Wednesday - A friend of mine is doing a picture a day - I have decided to steal this from her and do something similar....but instead of posting them every day I'll post them once a week...on Wednesday's

Savings Sunday's - I am starting my savings totals over and will keep track of how much I have saved via coupons and sales and log them in on Sunday's.

I'm also going to make a goal of knitting or crocheting a scarf or hat a month - so by december I will have 6 sets I can give as gifts....not too sure how this one will go since I am famous for UFO's around here (Un Finished Objects)

SO anyway these are my plans - maybe putting them out there for the world to see will help me succeed a bit better....we shall see...

Adventures in dying

I bought 24 prefold diapers from little lions the other day - but who likes plain 'ole white diapers?

So I got some dylon dye to spruce them up

The first batch I mixed up in a rubbermaid container - a very pretty green - and then decided to move to a hot pink. I mixed the dye - put a diaper in the second container poured the dye over the diaper and hot pink dye started running out the corner of the container down the cabinet onto the floor. Apparently there was a small crack in the corner of the second container. So Thinking quick I grabbed one of the next diapers I was going to dye pink and threw it to Mike and had him start wiping up the dye while I held the broken container over the bowl he handed me. Once the mess was cleaned up I mixed this batch up in the bowl and then poured them into a gallon ziplock to set. Still though I only had a few pink fingers.

The third color I did was turquoise - this went off without a hitch except for I somehow managed to get my right hand covered in dye. THe last batch was a really pretty purple - and now my left hand is purple.

The diapers are going to sit for a few more hours then I will rinse them out and post photos...

Coupon savings 156.64

I do monthly grocery shopping trips - I have found I spend way less if I only go once a month. This month I didn't have to buy a lot of meat since I have a standing freezer and it is currently full of meat I have stockpiled from sales (well that and deer meat) (September menu)

This month I made my menu for the month and then made my grocery list. I also added things to my list that I could get super cheap with coupons and stock pile for later use (for example last month we ate mostly from the stock pile and my monthly grocery bill was 128....to feed a family of 4 for 31 days....not too bad)

So this trip my total before coupons was 372.71

I am not going to list every coupon I used (I had 177 of them...lol) but I will list some of the great deals I did get

10 packages bumblebee tuna - 75 cents and I had a 1.00 coupon - so a .25 cent overage
1 instant rice - 1.89 and I had a 1.00 coupon = .89 cents
4 shells and cheese cups - .88 each with a bogo coupon = 44 cents each
17 fisher trail mixes - 1.00 each with a 1.00 off coupon = free
12/6packs of fruit20 essentials water - 1.50 each with a 1.00 coupon = .50 each
40 mighty dog canned food - .55 each with a buy one free coupon = free
2 friskies cat food - 2.99 each with a 3.50 off coupon = .51 cent overage per bag.

So as mentioned before my total before coupons was 372.71
My coupons totaled 156.64

so my total out of pocket = 216.07

my % saving this trip is a bit lower because I had several things that were pricy and did not have coupons (like the 10lbs bag of vadalia onions...) but I still ended up with a 44% savings

My coupon savings to date is 184.64

Coupon savings - 29.00

Yesterday we hit walmart again :)

I got:

8 packages of pull-up wipes 1.64 each
1 package huggies diapers - 9.78
1 package of pullups - 9.78
4 lunchables with water - 3.00

My coupons:
wipes - 3.00 off 2 = 12.00
diapers - 3.00 off 1 = 3.00
pull-ups - 2.00 off 1 = 2.00
lunchables - 3.00 off 1 = 12.00

Total before coupons - 44.68

Total OOP after coupons - 15.68

% savings - 65%

Total coupons for the year - 48.00

Today we headed out to use a few more coupons - Wal-mart was out completely of the wipes I have coupons for - so my savings weren't as great this time

1 pack huggies diapers - 9.78
2 lunchables - 3.00 each

Total before coupons - 12.78

Coupons -
3.00 off huggies diapers
1.00 off lunchables (x2)

Total coupons - 5.00

Total OOP = 7.78

savings of 39%

Total Coupons saving to date - 19.00

I got
1 pack of pull-ups 9.72

I had in coupons
3-3.00 off 2 pullups wipes
1-3.00 off huggies diapers
1-2.00 off pullups

So my total today was 29.28
Less 14.00 in coupons

Pregnancy + Allergies = suck

A few weeks ago I kinda stopped taking my allergy medicine. I take allegra and since it's a class C for pregnancy I try not to take it unless I know I am going to be around things I am allergic to. (and just FYI the other ones claritin, zyrtec etc do not work for me....would be nice if they did, but they don't)

So most of the things I am allergic to are not in "season" right now...so I stopped taking it....well one problem - there is 1 thing I am allergic to that is always in season...dust mites. I try and avoid them - we only have carpet in 1 room - I sleep with pillows that have allergy coverings on them etc. But my nesting got the better of me on Friday. We have a few fans around the house to keep air moving. Two of them have nifty panels you can take off and wash ...the third does not. It was covered in dust. So I got a "craving" of sorts that it needed to be cleaned. I got my trusty screwdriver out and proceeded to take the thing apart. YUCK! You will not believe the amount of dust - spider webs - cat hair (and we haven't had an inside cat in 2 years) etc that was stuck to the motor...to the blades...to everything - and then as I cleaned became stuck to me.

5 hours later (not kidding) it began with a scratchy throat....then sinus pressure - then full head "cold" finally Monday I started feeling a little less pressure and thought I was clear - until Monday night when it all settled in my chest - now I have what I lovingly like to refer to as phase 2 - which consists of coughing and a little runny nose.

What makes matters worse is that the good stuff (aka nyquil, percocet, whisky, cocaine) is all off limits during pregnancy...so I instead am forced to do lemon tea's with honey...lots of extra water...tylenol...and the occasional sudafed...

3 years ago today

3 years ago today my little drama queen (aka Isabel) made her way into this world. I had to stay in recovery a bit longer because my BP was a little low - and apparently she cried the whole time she was in the nursery - I could hear her screaming as they wheeled me into my room....she stopped crying as soon as she was in my arms :)

We had a day full of fun and I will update tomorrow what we did - and of course show lots of photos.

I also hope (fingers crossed) to get WDW vacation day 6 finished soon....it just take so long to re-size photos so you can see them on here - Mike laughs because he says by the time I get done we will be gearing up to head to WDW again and I'll have to start all over (we aren't planning on going till 2011 - so that shows how much confidence he has in me finishing our vacation in a timely manner lmbo)

Till tomorrow!

Sew-saturday

I have a handful of sewing projects that must be finished by October. Miss Eve is going to make her appearance then, and I know things will come to a complete stop once she arrives.

First up is Eve's cradle bumper. Her actual crib is done in flowers and matches Iz's bedding because once she gets older she will share a room with her, but when she first arrives she will bein our room and in the cradle. I made a bumper for Iz, but it is long gone so I am now sewing a new one. This one is a leopard print with hot pink trim. I got everything cut this morning, I just need to get it pinned and sewn.

Next up I am making some crayon rolls for the kids to take to the hospital when they come visit Me and Eve. I also am making them I-spy bags...I have all the material but I still need to get some more objects for them to find...

Lastly I need to sew Iz's halloween costume. Andrew has decided to be Buzz this year, it's a costume he has had for a while.....I didn't make it, I bought it from the disney store...but he loves wearing it so that makes him easy to please. Iz however is going to be Snow white....I have bought the pattern, I'll probably buy the material in Sept and bust it out a few days later... (note back up plan here is to buy one from the disney store...lol) As for Eve....we have Iz's pea pod costume...so she'll wear it for pictures...I am pretty sure she's not going out trick or treating this year...lol

Update on the baby - back from the specialist

My appt with the specialist went well, apparently Ms Eve does not have a cyst....she has a gall bladder. The us tech said sometimes you see them sometimes you don't, and you can see her's and since a lot of times you can't see them then when most us techs do see them they think they are something else and then they send them to a specialist to get a better look. The us tech took tons of photos of her heart because she was cooperating and she was getting great shots and the tech said she needed some good shots for her files for examples. So I have been released from seeing the specialist unless later they want to do another growth scan, but since my normal OB is doing growth scans anyway so I doubt I'll be back to see them.I ended up going by myself...I didn't want to have to get the kids up at 6am and I'm glad because my appt was at 8:45 and I didn't get out till almost 11.Thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers :)

Update on baby Eve

We had another ultrasound today because the baby wouldn't let her get all the measurements last time. Our appt was at 11, and we didn't get in till 12. Again the baby was being totally stubbord and wouldln't let her get pictures of everything. Finally she rolled over and everything looked ok and she finished getting measurements, she left the room after we got done, and said I'll be right back, she comes in with an OB, not normal, so he tells us that she has a cyst in her abdomin. He said that it's not connected to her heart or bladder or kidneys and that most likely since she is a she its a ovarian cyst. He said though since he's not a specialist and can't give us a 100% answer he's sending us to a MFM specialist for further evaluation. He said in his opinion the specialist will probably just have them do ultrasounds every few weeks to monitor it and as long as it isn't growing they will wait till she is born to decide what to do about it. He said sometimes cysts are chromosomal, but since none of her other organs have any of the markers and look normal he isn't too concerned about it. He also said sometimes they are cancerous, but since the cyst does not present in a way that makes it look like cancerous.
We then had our normal OB appt and our OB again said to her she's pretty sure its just an ovarian cyst, but again she'd rather send us to someone who is paid the big bucks just in case.

So now we wait...they said we should get our refferal by Monday and an appt in the next 2 weeks.

So anyway...just keep us in your thoughts and I'll keep you guys updated as I know more :(

No vacation Blog today :(

No vacation blog today folks! I had too much to get done, clipping coupons, making grocery list, shopping, bathing...ya know all the fun stuff.

I did however save 59.00 at the grocery store in coupons....Which means I got out of there for 109.00 and enough food for the next 3 weeks....now remember I didn't buy any meat this week because I have a freezer full from recent sales...

And on another note. Mike took Andrew to the ER the other night. ( it was just croup) anyway apparently every time a dr or nurse entered the room he started crying. Andrew isn't usually afraid of Dr's so Mike was confused. So Mike finally asked him what was wrong. He looked at Mike and said but I don't want them to make me have a baby. See we have been talking to Andrew and Iz about how in a few months I will go to the hospital and the Dr's will help me have a baby and we will bring it home. He's gotten to see an ultrasound etc and apparently he assumed that they would make him have a baby too...lol

Vacation Day 4 - Sea World

Vacation Day 4

So we headed out early to make it to the opening of seaworld. The first show we hit was Clyde and Seamore take Pirate Island. It was a really cute show, and the kids did really good waiting on it to start.

Mike and Andrew waiting on the show to start.

We then walked over to see the Clydesdales. Iz of course was in love with the horses and wanted to ride them...

We then had lunch at Sharks Underwater Grill. Way over priced, but I guess you pay extra for dining with the sharks.

We then headed over to see A'Lure which was a cirque de soleil kind of show. Except a little cheesy and a lot smaller. But the kids really seemed to enjoy it (no photography allowed) plus we (Mike and I) enjoyed that it was indoors and air conditioned
We then made the trek up the hill to see Believe (Shamu). I took a whole lot of photos, too many to share here :). We didn't sit in the spash zone despite the fact it was warm enough. We still had a long day ahead and I wasn't wanting to squish the rest of the day

Photos of Shamu

We then headed over to see the penguins. Yes they were cute, but boy did they stink. It was almost too much for my pregnant nose to take!

Photobucket

Lastly we headed over to see Blue Horizons (Dolphins). Again I took a lot more photos (I took like 200 total for the day) but there are way to many to post here :). Iz loved this show...I think she liked it even more than the Shamu.

Photobucket
Photobucket

Lastly we stopped and had a photo Op at this fake shamu. The kids really enjoyed the day. It was really hot though. Iz got very upset for a bit because the have these huge roller coasters in the park. After she rode the mini roller coaster the day before she was very upset to learn she was about 20 inches too short to ride these...I promised her at some point we'd come back and she could ride them....in a few years that is :)
Mike and the Kids with "shamu"

At the end of the day we drug ourselves and their toys (Iz got a stuffed Shamu and Andrew got a coral reef figures set) back to our resort. We took the kids swimming in the big pool. Thankfully they had lifevests for the kids because the water was way over their heads. Andrew and Iz both went down the big slides many times. I never got aroudn to taking photos of them swimming, so no photos of that :( For dinner Mike ran down to the food court and we dined on hamburgers and pizza.
Tomorrow - Hollywood Studios :)

Vacation Day 3 - Magic Kingdom

Day 3 -
We had reservations for breakfast at the crystal palace in the Magic Kingdom. I scheduled it before the park actually opened, so we got to enter the park at 8am instead of 9am.

Iz was super excited to see the castle
Photobucket
Iz spotting the castle

We stopped on our way up the street to get a photo of us with the castle...I have some with me in it, but I haven't got the photopass cd in yet :)

IMG_4791.jpg
Mike and the kids in front of the castle

We then headed to our breakfast. For those who have not been, the crystal palace does character dining. We were supposed to see Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, & Pigglet. We however did not get to see Piglet. He was about to come to our table when they started a dance around the room followed by a character break, the kids were ready to go, so we'll just have to meet him next time.

After having breakfast we headed over to the rope drop at Fantasyland. The first ride we hit was Dumbo. Both of the kids loved it! Neither was scared about going all the way to the top.

We left Dumbo and hit Pooh, then Snow White (which in my tips book said scared young children, but my kids didn't bat an eye), then over to peter pan. Iz insisted we needed to ride the ponies...

Photobucket

Iz, Me, and Andrew riding the "ponies"

After riding the ponies we went and rode It's a Small World...

IMG_4816.jpg
Mike and the kids riding It's a Small World

After that we headed over to Tomorrowland to check out the Buzz ride. The line wasn't very long, but since Andrew is a huge Buzz fan we grabbed a fast pass to use later and jumped in line. Both of the kids loved this ride!

101_2863.JPG

Andrew and Iz in jail with Zurg

We then went to check out astro orbitor, but the wait was 45 minutes....too long for me. So we headed over to Stitch's Great escape. Andrew and Mike rode it while Iz and I rode Monster's Inc Laugh Floor. It was really cute, and the joke of the day: How do you make a tissue dance??? - Put a little boogie in it :)

By this time we were able to use our fast passes, so we hit Buzz again and then decided to head over to Toontown.

The only ride we did in toontown was the barnstormer (mini roller coaster) Iz was able to ride, which proved to be a problem....which I'll explain later.

We then jumped on the Train and rode around to Frontierland. It was getting hot by this time, and it was crowded (which it was Saturday so that's to be expected) so we hit Pirates of the Caribbean and then headed to Casey's for hot dogs.

Photobucket

Isabel on the train

After lunch we decided to head back to the hotel for a break. On the way out we saw Chip and Dale

Photobucket

The kids were so worn out...they fell asleep in the stroller at the bus stop

Photobucket

After a break in the room (and in the pool) we headed to the poly for dinner at 'Ohana. They served us way too much food, but we had fun trying to eat it all.

Upon returning to the hotel We decided to dig into our pretzel rods from the previous day. They were awesome. I am going to try and make some here this winter....mmmm I can't wait!

101_2877.JPG

Lastly...this is how the kids fell asleep....it was a long hot day...normally its in the 70-80's during this time of year, but lucky (or unlucky) us it was in the 90's all week...no rain, but really hot and humid :(

Photobucket

Tomorrow - off to Sea World :)
